How to attract butterflies to your garden…

Butterflies are insects of the order Lepidoptera, which besides turning our gardens more beautiful have an important role as pollinators.

However, the agriculture intensification and the consequent use of synthetic chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, …), the increase of built up areas that aren`t always compensated with green areas, the substitution both in public and private gardens of native plants for other less attractive plants to butterflies, have been diminishing its population, making them increasingly rare to spot.

In the list below, we give you the names of some of the plant species that attract these flying beauties to your garden, because like Mario Quintana used to say: “The secret isn`t to chase butterflies … Is to take care of the garden so that they come to you.”

And this flora, besides adding more color and aroma to your garden or vegetable garden also attracts beneficial fauna to fight pests and diseases.

But if you have some questions about what attacked your plants, you can always resort to the app OpenPD that in real time and easily, through a forum to share knowledge, can help you find the answer.
